Taliban after their domination imposed lots of restrictions on women, and women instead have repeatedly protested against this situation. The protests provoked a sharp reaction from the Taliban side, as a result they banned the demonstrations. Then, first, Taman Zaryab Paryani and Parwana Ibrahim khel went missing, and a week later, two other protesting women disappeared.

Although the taliban deny arresting the women activists, some sources say the women were detained by the taliban. Now, only two of these protesting women have been released from prison and no body has information about two others.

Mohammad Naeem, a spokesman for the taliban's political office, said they had not been formally detained and that efforts were ongoing to find them. However, he stressed that these women have disrespected Islamic sanctities and values. "Our government is not officially involved in this issue. It is highly likey someone has taken them. They must consider Islamic values in protests," he said.

The arrest and disappearance of protesting women provoked serious national and international reactions. The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, recently expressed his grave concern over the disappearance of female protesters in Afghanistan.

"I am increasingly concerned about the well-being of missing women activists in Afghanistan. Several have 'disappeared', some not heard from in weeks," he tweeted."I strongly urge the taliban to ensure their safety so that they can return home," Guterres pointing to disappearance of female protesters said.

The UN Special Representative for Afghanistan, in a meeting with the taliban foreign minister, also expressed the anger of the world over the disappearance of the protesting women.
