Following the rumours, it’s now official: The Jackal will host the PrimaFestival, the daily programme broadcast on Rai1 immediately after the 8 pm news and before the evening shows of the 2027 Sanremo Festival (16–20 February). The news was confirmed by Tg1 (Rai's flagship evening news) itself: during the headlines of the 8 pm news bulletin, a video was shown featuring the artistic director and presenter, Stefano De Martino, and the Neapolitan comedy troupe.
In the clip, De Martino – himself a Neapolitan – joined The Jackal via video call: “Are you happy?” There was great enthusiasm on the other end. The Festival’s artistic director added: “You don’t actually think you were chosen for your talent, do you? You were chosen because you’re Neapolitans. The Festival of the Neapolitans.” The Jackal remained stone-faced, “frozen” in front of their mobile phones during the video call.
The Primafestival takes viewers to Sanremo, offering a preview of the evening’s proceedings, with interviews with the competing artists, an inside report, red carpet highlights and the atmosphere just a stone’s throw from the Ariston Theatre. For the Neapolitan collective, this will mark a return. In previous years, individual members had already graced the Sanremo stage in various roles: Ciro Priello hosted the PrimaFestival in 2022 alongside Roberta Capua and Paola Di Benedetto, whilst Fru’s hilarious burst onto the Ariston stage in 2025 as a ‘dancer’ during The Kolors’ performance, whilst Aurora Leone co-hosted the DopoFestival with Nicola Savino in the 2026 edition.
